Frequently Asked Questions
We ship worldwide, please note that we have a minimum order value for shipping orders out (no minimum if you want to pick it up at the boutique.)
Minimum order values for shipping:
Canada minimum order value is $30.00 + tax CAD and the flat rate shipping is $20.00 CAD. For the USA and Rest of World the minimum order value to ship is $40 CAD / $29 USD.
FREE SHIPPING: Orders of $300 CAD / $214.00 USD or more are shipped FREE within North America. (REMOTE LOCATIONS EXCLUDED WE WILL CONTACT YOU REGARDING SHIPPING FEES)
Shipping within Canada Canadian Shipments are sent via Expedited Parcel via Canada Post or Canpar.
All parcels are fully insured up to $1000 CAD per parcel. If your order exceeds that value we will split the shipment up into 2 or more parcels to ensure everything is insured.

USA Shipping:
For the USA and Rest of World the minimum order value to ship is $40 CAD / $29.00 USD.
Orders over $214.00 USD ship free to the USA via DHL Express couriers. For orders under that threshold there is a flat rate $22.50 USD fee for shipping. (REMOTE LOCATIONS EXCLUDED WE WILL CONTACT YOU REGARDING SHIPPING FEES)
Shipping to the the USA is via DHL Express International as of October 1, 2025. (please note that for remote locations we may require extra shipping dues if DHL does not service your region)
We are extremely pleased to hear that so far, all of our USA customers are indicating that THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY PAYABLES DUE ON DELIVERY for shipments that include our in-house handmade leather goods. This is an evolving situation and if we hear that clients incur a payable to clear customs this will be updated.
Please note that in general we send our parcels to the USA as DAP (Deliver at Place) and the receiver is responsible for any importation fees such as and duty / taxes/ tariff's/ brokerage fee etc. (But again with DHL there has not been any payables dues). Our goods travel under the North American Duty Free Trade Agreement and we provide all the appropriate paper work to declare the items duty free. Goods are shipped under the H.S. tax code 4205.00 for Other Articles of Leather, made in Canada using Domestic Bovine Leathers. Items made elsewhere in the world will be subject to standard import fees and we will give you the opportunity to either keep those items on your order or remove them from the order for a partial refund.
Previously we have always used UPS but they are having logistical problems with clearing US Customs, backlogs and returning parcels. We have lost faith with UPS and now are exclusively shipping with DHL and are pleased that there have been no hold ups or issues with customs.
In general we always encourage customers to familiarize themselves with the process prior to placing an order as there have been changes made by USA Administration and Customs Dept. There are important changes to U.S. import regulations that will take effect August 29, 2025. On July 30, 2025, U.S. President Trump signed an Executive Order suspending Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment. This is a global change. The removal of the de minimis threshold means all parcels importing into the USA:
All shipments will now require full customs clearance, including applicable duties, taxes, and detailed documentation. Items under USD $800 will no longer be exempt and will be assessed for duties, taxes, clearance and any brokerage fees if applicable. You the client are responsible for all landing costs as determined by US Customs and DHL will reach out to you for payment if there are monies owing. (Again so far our handmade goods have been travelling to the client with no payable on delivery with DHL couriers)
In light of these recent changes we will try to keep our USA customer's payable on delivery as low as possible. For more details regarding shipping please see this link:

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING OUTSIDE CANADA or USA:
For the USA and Rest of World the minimum order value to ship is $40 CAD / $29.00 USD.
We offer flat rate DHL shipping worldwide. Upon checkout International rates will appear in your shopping cart based on your location and order total.
Canadian Currency orders with values:
Value Below $300 CAD - Shipping is $50 CAD
Value $300 - $500 CAD - Shipping is $75 CAD
Value $500 CAD or more - Shipping is $100 CAD
American Currency orders with values:
Value Below $217 USD - Shipping is $37.50 USD
Value $217 - $361 USD - Shipping is $56.25 USD
Value Over $361 USD - Shipping is $72.50 USD
Alternatively you can request for quotes on shipping from our various couriers and then choose your preference (in some rare instances this will be slightly more economical than our flat rate option but often these quotes will be higher).

All parcels are insured and traceable. If the order exceeds that maximum insurable amount we will split the order up into 2 or more parcels to ensure everything is properly covered for insurance.
High value orders ($850 CAD / $750 USD or more) will require a signature for delivery.
Please note that a phone number is required for all orders.

*** Please be advised that in the event of an unclaimed parcel or refused parcels for any reason we are happy to offer an in-store credit (no refunds) minus the cost of returned shipping dues (including any/all shipping fees, brokerage, duty taxes that we incur to receive the parcel back), minus a 30% re-stocking fee each item. We will not process any in house credits until we have the final bill from the shipping company to receive your parcel back and this could take up to 60 days, as we will be re-importing your order back into Canada and again is subject to brokerage/duty/ taxes/ return shipping fees. In some cases there will be no in-house credit left depending on the value of your purchase.
Canadian address orders:
Yes we normally do ship to PO Boxes via Canada Post Expedited Parcel. HOWEVER CANADA POST IS ON STRIKE AGAIN AS OF SEPT 26, 2025 so we will not be able to ship to PO Boxes until the strike is over.
USA orders:
No we do not ship to PO Boxes
International address orders:
We are unable to ship to Postal Boxes if you choose the pre-paid Flat Rate shipping option - as that is DHL shipping method and physical delivery address is needed along with a phone number.
If an international client would like an order shipped to a postal box, please choose “International Shipping to be Determine” and we will figure out the Canada Post shipping options available, advise you of such and invoice you for the shipping dues via Paypal when the order is ready.
*** CANADA POST IS ON STRIKE AGAIN AS OF SEPT 26, 2025 so we will not be able to ship to PO Boxes until the strike is over.
All Sinvention brand items are made at our studio and retail shop located in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
Our handmade leather items are shipped with the export HS. Code: 4205.00.80 - Other articles of leather and fall under the CUSMA Free Trade Agreement USA - Canada - Mexico
- If you are located in Canada you will see CAD funds pricing. If you are in Canada and you are seeing USD pricing you will need to change your I.P. address to a Canadian I.P. address (if you are using a different one or a VPN to access international content for services such as Netflix etc.)
- USA and International customers will be offered USD currency.
We offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on all Sinvention made items.
We do not cover damage caused by wear and tear due to normal usage over time.
If you experience any issues with your Sinvention gear, please send us an email with the details and photos of the item and we will do our very best to help you.
We are a full service leather shop and can repair and/or revitalize your gear within reason.
We hand craft all Sinvention brand items in house and lead times do fluctuate through out the year. We generally quote on the long end of the possible handcrafting lead time as to not disappoint anyone. Currently we advise it may take 6 -10 weeks for orders to be handmade.
Orders may be fulfilled sooner but keep this in mind as a worst case timeline.
Rush order may be possible on a case by case basis, please contact us directly prior to placing your order for more info.
When you pay via Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, our company name will appear as Sinvention.
For Canadian customers: If you are sending an Interac E-transfer it will appear as Ware Leather Corporation on your bank statement.
While we do not offer home parties we do offer in store private shopping parties for groups of 8-15 persons. Private shopping parties are offered on Friday or Saturday evenings 7-9pm. We dim the overheads, throw the disco lights on and crank the tunes. This is a fun experience for you and your friends to shop together. Ideal for bachelorette parties etc. Please contact us for more details.
Yes we do offer local home delivery to addresses within the city of Stratford Ontario to N5A postal codes.
Ideally customers will be home to receive the delivery however if you are not going to be home please be sure to include any special instructions for delivery in the customer notes section during checkout (ie. if there is no one home to receive the order where would you like it put?). If no one is home we will take a photo of the parcel at your doorstep and forward that to you as proof of delivery. Please note that there is no replacement insurance offered for parcels that go missing - use at your own risk.
Normally home deliveries are completed near the end of each business day. No deliveries on Sundays or Mondays.
Yes we offer free in-store order pickups. Please come to the sales counter to retrieve your order.
Only after we have advised you that your order is ready for pick you are welcome to do so.
Pick Ups are available:
Tuesday - Thursday 11am-6pm
Fridays 11am - 7pm
Saturdays 11am - 5pm
Closed Sunday / Mondays
If the order will be picked up by someone other than the name on the order please be sure to advise us of this in advance. Include a note upon check out or send an email with your order number to sales@sinvention.com
Yes we have free on site parking. We are located on the corner of Romeo and Douro Streets, you may enter the parking lot from either street. We are located on the back side of the building and you are welcome to park anywhere in the lot.
